Ask me anything   My journal

a full-time dreamer, a blabber cum doodler

I knew this particular boy since secondary school. He was my senior. He was one of those naughty kids at school who liked to goof around, date many girls and ignore teachers; totally not my kind of friends. I went to the same school for my secondary and high school. Apparently, so did he.

During my time in high school, there was this Christian community who conducted a worship every Saturday at school called Jesus for Youth (JOY). Some of my classmates joined their worships every Saturday after school and continued to sunset mass in the evening. I came to their event once and it was fun. They are all so friendly. One day when I passed by the classroom where they had their worship, I saw this boy, my senior, was with them. It was really good to see him singing and praying together instead of goofing around at school.

Years passed, I graduated from high school and went to the university, but I always visited my school every week since my church is next to the school. I still saw some JOY members at the church, including my classmates.

This morning I was checking my facebook and I saw my one of my classmates got married with that boy! I was so surprised and went on viewing their wedding pictures. Gosh, they looked happy together. On particular pictures I saw them with some JOY members I knew, indicated they are still in JOY until now.

It was awesome how God touched someone’s heart and changed it. And how that particular person was willing to be touched by God’s grace was truly amazing. Congratulations on your wedding, guys! I am happy for both of you :)

I take the train to my office and as usual, the station is crowded. Don’t expect any nice and friendly commuters in the morning; when the train doors open, people will just rush into the train. Some people will just cut the queue or annoyingly push you in so they can get in. If I could choose, I’d rather take a bus, but it’s more time-saving if I take the train and no direct bus to my office.

So this morning, I took the train as usual. Just as I reached the platform, the train doors were about to close. Everybody was already inside the train and I rushed in as there was still enough space for me to get in. As the train started to move, a guy standing next to me, was talking to his daugther in a quite loud voice, “All these foreigners have no manners! uneducated! Don’t know how to queue! They came from their countries to Singapore to steal our money and transportation!” I was like… o_O” what the?? He kept talking, “Uneducated people! Their countries’ educations are really f**ked up!” His daugther was quite embarrassed, “Daddy!” and he continued, “No, you must learn all these people came here only to rob us, you must study hard, don’t be like these uneducated people,”.

I didn’t know what happened before. I guess some commuters just cut the queue so he became annoyed. But I don’t think he should say those things out loud so that everybody could hear him; you don’t even know if those who cut the queue are foreigners. And most importantly, that’s not how you educate your daugther. How would she be educated if you have instilled hatred in her since she was a kid?

"Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."

Today I was supposed to meet my friend to see a room I’m interested in at 11 AM. The owner, however, couldn’t make it and requested to change the meeting at 3 PM.

I woke up late and missed the morning mass. Since my meeting with the owner was at 3 PM, I thought I could make it to the evening mass at 5.30 PM. I messaged my friend to confirm the meeting. Then I was just lazying around and before going to take a shower, my friend messaged that the meeting would be delayed until 4 or 5 PM. I was like “Shit, I won’t make it to the church,” but then I confirmed the meeting.

Then something was bothering me and I decided to message my friend if I could reschedule the meeting to 8 PM. I told her that I had something urgent to do. I took a shower and was headed to the church. Little did I know that today is the feast of Pentecost Sunday. I looked at the big screen then realized that it is Pentecost Sunday! I felt blessed and relieved that I actually made the right choice. Moreover, the mass was conducted by Archbishop of Singapore.

After the mass, I went home and eventually my friend informed me that the meeting was cancelled and rescheduled to Wednesday :| I thought back what has happened today. I am truly grateful that God still reminds me to come to Him though I forgot about Him. Somehow, I felt the urge to talk to Him, to see Him and worship Him.

God fulfilled His promise not to leave us by descending the Holy Spirit to protect and guide us. Happy Pentecost day :)
